I think the lure of Americans to Salzburg has a lot to do with the movie The Sound of Music. And there’s nothing wrong with that! But Salzburg has so much more to offer those who step away from the tour buses and get lost while really exploring this city. And again, there’s nothing wrong with bus tours. After all, I spent nearly an entire day in Salzburg on two of them! 🙂 I guess what I’m trying to say is, even if you’re not remotely interested in the movie that put this city on the map for Americans, you should still consider a visit. It’s Always Christmastime in Germany!

To be more specific, it’s always Christmastime in Rothenburg, Germany. And considering that Christmas is my favorite time of the year, I absolutely loved this town. And actually, the holiday isn’t celebrated here year-round; this town just has the greatest concentration of Christmas shops of anywhere I’ve ever been. Rothernburg ob der Tauber is a fascinating town located in Bavaria, Germany. Surrounded by a wall, with cobblestone streets, window boxes overflowing with colorful flowers, and lots of ice cream parlors (and the above mentioned Christmas shops), it’s incredibly quaint. I found myself enjoying two nights here during my 2007 summer in Europe with my friend, Teresa. My second day at Kavos Bay started with breakfast on the patio and then a ride into town. We had planned on hanging out at the beach and then doing a bit of shopping but ended up nixing the beach because it was so crowded. Instead we browsed through numerous shops and made numerous purchases including two giant blow-up floats. We took a much-needed break from shopping 🙂 and enjoyed smoothies at a place called B-52. Did I mention that the giant blow-up floats we bought were already blown up? Yeah. We hadn’t really thought about transporting them back to our hotel when we made our purchase. Viva Vancouver! (Part I)

Although my father’s family hails from Canada, growing up I never had a great desire to visit. After all, we share the same continent and language – couldn’t be very exciting, right? Oh boy, was I wrong! Since spending some time in Vancouver last year, I am ready to move there! That’s how much I fell in love with this city! The only thing I regret about visiting was not staying longer!! There is so much to see and do there and I really only scratched the surface!
